Prometeo Toys, a newborn studio, has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for the highly anticipated gokin model Mazinkaiser SKL, a highly-articulated, high-detailed and top quality reproduction of the iconic robot protagonist of the Japanese OVA “Mazinkaiser SKL” from 2012.

The edition offered in this campaign wants to establish itself as a true collector’s edition, as it will be numbered and will include exclusive items and characteristics that will never be released again and, thus, is configured as a one-time, unique edition.

Key Points to Note:

• Product development status: the development has successfully completed the prototyping phase, showcasing a 3D-printed DFM* prototype. The next step involves creating a pre-production sample using the final materials before moving into mass production.
• Pictures are from a painted 3D-printed prototype, not from a pre-production sample: the finishing of the surfaces and of the paint job might look coarse in some spots. That’s not what will be the production finishing, which will be sharp and clean as expected. The same goes for other assembling imperfections that can be spotted.
• All campaign amounts are omitted: they will be revealed right before the campaign starts.

* DFM stands for “Design for Manufacturability.” A DFM prototype refers to a prototype that is specifically designed to test the manufacturability of a product. In other words, it’s a prototype created not just to validate the design concept or functionality but also to assess how easily and efficiently the product can be manufactured at scale.

DFM prototypes typically undergo rigorous testing to identify any potential manufacturing challenges, such as complex assembly processes, material selection issues, or cost constraints. By addressing these concerns early in the development process, designers can optimize the product design for mass production, reducing production costs and time to market.

The Collector’s Bundle: an unparalleled offering

The robot accessory set was planned to include almost every accessory and to display the model in every possible configuration seen in the TV show.

Most importantly, every Mazinkaiser SKL will come bundled with exclusive items of this Kickstarter campaign (marked with the symbol “§”) that will never be released again, if a future re-release will ever happen (that’s a promise and commitment from Prometeo Toys). The bundle includes:

The campaign’s rewards

The campaign will offer the Mazinkaisers SKL in different color versions, and a die-cast version of the sword “Ganzantō”. The rewards from this list will also be offered as add-ons:

• Mazinkaiser SKL Anime color edition: color scheme right from the anime TV show (as you can see by the pictures)
• Mazinkaiser SKL Black color edition: homage to the iconic color combination of black, metal, and gold. It comes with an extra closed wing skull pilder. Limited to 300 pieces.
• Mazinkaiser SKL Shadow Demon color edition: from a specific scene of the anime TV show where the Mazinkaiser SKL true figure is still hidden in the shadows. It comes with an extra closed wing skull pilder. Limited to 300 pieces.
• Die-cast “Ganzantō” sword: it comes in its own box.

The campaign’s add-ons

Items that can be added on the top of a pledge:

• The same items from the rewards: to allow to pledge multiple items
• Preferred print number: since every edition will be numbered, backers can pledge the preference of a specific number.

The campaign’s stretch goals

Beyond the campaign minimum fundraising goal, stretch goals, when reached, they unlock extra items that will be added to the base bundle with no extra cost:

• 1st Stretch Goal: Power-off face: an extra face to reproduce the power-off mode.
• 2nd Stretch Goal: Extra pose hands (§): an extra pair of open hands for dynamic poses.
• 3rd Stretch Goal: Alternative Skull Pilder: an extra open wing Skull Pilder with “eyes” colored in black to represent an alternative coloring from the anime.
• 4th Stretch Goal: Fire effect parts: effects parts to mimic the shooting of the “Tornado Crusher Punches” attack (1 pair) and the gun fire (1 pair).
• 5th Stretch Goal: Background prints (§) and extra red eye Face (§): foldable cardboards, provided with holders, printed with scenes from the anime to be used as display backgrounds, and an extra red eye face to represent the evil mode.
• 6th Stretch Goal: Lightning effect parts: a lighting bolt effect part to be placed around the sword to mimic the “Thor Hammer Breaker” attack. ● More to come.
